George M. Ugo, 78, died at the West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL on Monday, March 20 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Marjorie I. (Sweetman). Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School. He has resided in Pace, FL for 2 years after living in Stoughton for many years and Raynham for over 15 years. Mr. Ugo was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter for 50 years before retiring 20 years ago. He was an original builder for the McDonald’s Hamburger Franchise, including the restaurant in Stoughton. Mr. Ugo was a member of the American Legion in Florida. He enjoyed trips to Foxwoods Casino, gambling, crafts, woodworking and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ugo is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Christo and Michele Hathaway both of Hyannis, Gina Ugo of FL, Cynthia Pollard of NH, Diana Shannon of N. Dighton and Kristin Ugo of Taunton. He was the brother of Carmella Youdis of Marshfield and Louie Ugo of FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 25 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM.
