Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother
TEWKSBURY: Karen L. (Baker) Murphy, age 78, resident of Tewksbury for the past 3 years, passed away at her home in the care of her family and hospice on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
She was the beloved wife of Edmund J. Murphy, with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on November 13, 2020.
Born in Somerville on October 19, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John J. Baker, Jr. and the late Blanche M. (Bogdanowicz) Baker.
Karen was raised in Chelsea, and graduated from Chelsea High School.
Following her wedding, she devoted her life to her husband and raising their family.
She resided in Somerville and Salem, NH until moving to Tewksbury in 2018.
Karen enjoyed shopping, traveling to Foxwoods Resort & Casino, vacationing with her family including a cruise to the Caribbean, and playing Bingo at many area clubs including the Tewksbury Lodge of Elks.
She loved her family to the Moon and back.
Karen was quite a character and an amazing woman. She was genuinely loved by all and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, family members include her children, Donna J. Hartsgrove and her husband Fred of Tewksbury, the late Eddie Murphy, the late Karen Murphy, Mark S. Murphy and his wife Maria of Medford, and Maureen L. Marsden and her husband Billy of Tewksbury; eight grandchildren, and one great grandson.
She was the sister of Butchie Baker and his wife Carol of Lynn, Jim Baker and his wife Kathy of Hudson, NH, Mickey Hyde and her late husband Peter of Fredericksburg, VA, the late Theresa Bachman and her late husband Walter, the late Robert Baker and his surviving wife Mary who resides in Tewksbury.
Calling hours in adherence to State Covid-19 Guidelines will be Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Family and friends are invited to meet on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 10 O’clock at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury for her Funeral Mass (church limited to 80 attendees). Private interment will be at Cambridge Cemetery. Masks and social distancing required at all venues. Please Omit Flowers.
