Herbert Edward “Ricky” Wells, Jr. of Dennis and Naples, FL (formerly of Medford) 82, passed away on February 15th following a fall. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Herbert “Coffey” and Margaret (Murray) Wells. Herb worked as a teacher, assistant principal and football coach in the Medford Public Schools before retiring to the Cape and Florida. He was a member of the Foxfire Golf and Country Club (Naples), Dennis Highlands/Pines Golf and former member of the Medford Boat Club.
Herb was the beloved husband of Patricia (Richardson) Wells, and the devoted father of Beth O'Neill and her husband Brian, and the late Scott Wells. He was the loving grandfather of Connor, Caroline and Dylan O'Neill, and the dear brother of Peter Wells and his wife Mary, and Marion Curry and her husband Pete. Herb is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, on Saturday, March 6 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 9 through 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Social distancing protocols will be observed throughout the services.
