Nancy Ann St. Peter, 79
STANDISH – Nancy A. St. Peter of Standish, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 after enduring dementia for quite some time and more recently cancer.
Nancy was born in Portland to Carl and Frances (Daly) Baade, one of seven children and was a graduate of Deering High School. While growing up Nancy loved visiting the beach and ocean with her family and later enjoyed bringing her own children and then grand children to the beach for fun days in the sun.
Nancy worked for decades at GTE Sylvania in town and enjoyed her friendships with her co-workers. She found her true calling working in the baby room at Cradle to Crayons in Gorham. She loved taking care and holding all of the babies and would often share her joy of caring for them with her own children.
Nancy loved the many trips taken with the Back Forty antique auto and Down East Street Rod clubs with David and the kids all around Maine, New England and Pennsylvania. She was known fondly as Maude to her many friends in the group and thoroughly enjoyed traveling the backroads and discovering new places. Nancy was a ferocious reader of romance novels and mysteries, she could often be found reading a book sitting in her recliner, snacking on Cheez-Its. Nancy loved gardening and had a large vegetable garden for many years. She was very proud of her many flowers and loved to walk around the yard telling the story behind where each plant came from, the lilacs were transplanted from her mother’s house and so on. She loved taking photographs of all the family happenings large and small. She especially loved taking photos of her grandchildren. Special favorite events were the many car shows, weddings and their trips to California and Ireland. Nancy was a loyal Red Sox and Patriots fan and was delighted when the Red Sox finally won the World Series and the Pat’s the Super Bowl. She loved spending time with her siblings especially in Rangeley camping at Betty and Ray’s campground with the whole gang of nieces and nephews.
Nancy was kind, caring and welcoming. She instilled in her children the importance of education and that they could be or do anything they wanted in this world.
The family would like to thank the lovely caregivers at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House who took care of Nancy in her final days.
