Erik Jon Shaw, age 62, was taken from us on February 5, 2021 in a head-on collision while driving home from work on Foothill Rd.
Erik was was born on February 13th 1958 in Santa Monica California to Patricia and William Shaw. He spent most of his formative years in Thousand Oaks with his brother Stirling and sister Debbie and graduated from Thousand Oaks High School. In 1978 Erik and his family welcomed daughter Charmagne. Erik, Charmagne, and family packed up and moved to Arizona
In Flagstaff he became the fireman. As if fighting fires wasn't adventurous enough, Erik decided he needed to join the Army in 1982. This is where he earned his Green Beret in the Special Forces. For the next several years Erik worked various jobs overseas. He then transition to working with emotionally disturbed and disabled children. In 1993, he and then wife, Andrea, welcomed daughter Pilar. Erik continued to work with these children and developed the Wilderness Education Program(WEP).
In 2011, it was time for a new adventure- Disneyland was calling his name. Everyone loved him there because he brought a special magic to the Magic Kingdom. In 2018 he decided to bring it closer to home and joined the Lowe's family in Ventura. Here is where he utilized his years of knowledge of both construction and the outdoors. This provided the opportunity to become a great "Aquatics Specialist."
Eric is survived by his daughters Charmange and Pilar, his mother Pat, siblings Debbie and Stirling, and their families. She is preceded in death by his father Bill Shaw.
A celebration of life will be held at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura on Thursday February 18 th at 11 am. The family is accepting donations at this time to help with Erik's unexpected funeral costs at http://gf.me/u/zjguta .
