Max Eugene "FUDD" Ortega, 70 of Oxnard passed away Thursday, Jan 28, 2021, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Ortega was born April 22, 1950, in Las Animas, Colorado. He moved to Oxnard when he was 2 years old. He was a retired City of Oxnard employee for street maintenance.
Married at age 17 to the love of his life Margarit Caballero Ortega (deceased), he is survived by his children and their spouses, Yvette Ortega, Christal and Ernie Rico, Enrique and Liana Flores; grandchildren, Ruby, Domonique, Anthony, Salvador, Maxine, Rayanthony, Michael, Alayna, Irene and Erica; great-grandchildren, Max and Enoch; siblings Carol and Felix Reyes, Eddie Ortega, Gloria and Art Gonzales, and Chris and Gina Castillo and nieces and nephews.
Max was an unforgettable character full of love and charm; people would always say, "Max, he's a coolguy." He loved dressing sharp from head to toe, starting with one of his many hats, nicely pressed pants, and a color-coordinated button-down shirt along with his flashy jewelry. He had a family tree of names all tattooed on his body from his wife's name to all his grandbabies. He loved being around his grandchildren and taking them to school.
He was a jokester, an irresistible charmer; he gave people a sense of comfort, love, and respect. He was young at heart, loyal to those he trusted, and would give his last dollar if you needed it.
He was a servant of Christ till the end, loved going to church to worship and hear the Word of God, and seeing his friends there. A few other things he also enjoyed doing were going to the Dollar Store and stocking up on snacks, from moon pies, rice pudding cups to Suzy- Q's. His favorite breakfast was French toast topped with strawberries and lots of whip cream. He also enjoyed learning new things such as figuring out how to use his smart phone to create a Facebook account and watching Netflix on his tablet or his cell phone.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Victory Outreach, Ventura for opening their doors to host services.
Funeral Services will be held at Victory Outreach, Ventura on Monday, February 22nd at 10:30 am. Burial will follow immediately at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
