Obituary

Paul D. Chouinard

September 28, 1959 – February 15, 2021

Worcester – Paul Douglas Chouinard, 61, died peacefully on Monday morning at the Saint Vincent Hospital, after losing his rapid and courageous battle with an aggressive late stage cancer. He was the youngest child of Raymond and Leona Chouinard of Spencer, MA, both of whom are predeceased. Born in Worcester and a graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer, Paul worked in a variety of professions including security/surveillance, livery driving, auto detailing, and he spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver, which was his passion. Paul will be sadly missed by his sisters, Frances Chouinard Lubans of Worcester and Carol Chouinard of Belchertown; brothers Richard Chouinard and his wife Veronica of Northborough, Roger Chouinard and his wife Carol of Provo UT, Bruce Chouinard and his wife Cindy of Ware, Gary Chouinard and his wife Virginia of Tucson AZ; nephews Ryan and Beau Chouinard of Provo UT, Brian Chouinard and his wife Cheryl of Worcester and Matthew Chouinard and his wife Vivian of Orlando, FL; nieces Deborah Blodgett Hoag of Worcester, Lynn Chouinard Shepherd of Barre, and Beth Chouinard Weisenberg of Northborough; as well as cousins, great nephews and grandnieces. Paul is also predeceased by an older brother Donald Chouinard (formerly of Sutton) and his surviving wife Janice of Ft. Pierce, FL.

Paul touched many people throughout his life by showing his exuberant, kind hearted nature to just about everyone he met along the way, and he often gave affectionate nicknames to people he adored. He was fortunate to have driven to the corners of every state, was never bothered by the solitary life of being a trucker, and always marveled in the beauty of our country. Paul lived many years in Colorado, Arizona, and San Diego, where he was especially fond of living with his longtime friend Anthony and his family. Paul was a devout Christian who was faithful to the Catholic church, and he found joy in playing the piano as well as having great appreciation and respect for Native American people and culture. He will be sorely missed by many, but none more than his niece, Deb, with whom he shared his closest, lifelong bond.

There will be no visitation or funeral mass. Friends will be welcome to join a family in a celebration of life which will be announced on a future date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Nordgren Memorial Chapel in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s Catholic Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester 01604.
