Carroll, Joan A. (Schofield) of Wayland formerly of Needham. February 16, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Owen J. Carroll. Loving mother of Mary J. Lucas and her husband Robert of Waltham, Elizabeth Anne Carroll of Beverly, Owen J. Carroll Jr. of Boston, and Anne Catherine Carroll and her husband John Cappellucci of Wayland. Grandmother of Jennifer, Meghann, Dominic, Kevin, David, Jack, and Grace. Great-grandmother of Adelaide, Kallie, Desmond, Mason, and Griffin. Sister of John Schofield of Volcano, CA, Jackie Martin of Farmington, CT, and the late Mildred Maher. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The most important thing in Joan’s life were the people in it. She found something special and unique in everyone. Joan was a lifetime learner, an avid reader, music lover and a devoted news junkie.
Joan grew up in Fall River and graduated from Stonehill College and received her Masters at Assumption College. She was an employee as a Guidance Counselor in the Worcester, Needham and Wellesley Public Schools.
Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham on Saturday, February 20 from 8:30-9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Please follow all Covid-19 guidelines. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
