Geraldine Alice (Gillette) Slowey joined her husband in heaven on February 14, 2021. Valentine’s Day seemed appropriate as she missed him so.
Geri was born in Nashua, NH on June 29, 1934; her parents later relocated to Brockton, MA where they had seven more children. As the oldest of eight, Geri was always a mother. It was her calling to care for people. She was an excellent and caring geriatric nurse at St. Joseph’s Manor in Brockton for decades.
Geri married the love of her life Robert Joseph Slowey on September 29th, 1956. They moved to their new home in West Bridgewater where they remained for 64 years until their passing.
Geri loved spending time with her family above all. She was a charitable woman who cared for others deeply. She was a devout Catholic and we find comfort in knowing she is with her God now.
We would like to thank Old Colony Hospice and Christi Torres for their incredible care. They are special people and have our utmost gratitude.
Geri is survived by her children, Robert J Slowey, Jr. of New York City and Maryann Gillette Fulton of Bristol, RI as well as her adored and adoring grandchildren James Cameron Fulton of LIC, NY and John Thomas Fulton of Providence, RI. Geri also leaves her siblings R. Michael, James, Nancy, Mary Ellen, and Claire. She was predeceased by her siblings Thomas and Kevin, her parents, Winthrop and Mary and her husband, Robert J Slowey Sr., who passed on June 7, 2020.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday, February 21, from 2-4pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 10am for a Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater at 11am, followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed. There is a maximum of 40 people in the funeral home at any time.
