Thomas “Tom” David Maze, 74, of Tifton passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Maze at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronnie Howell officiating. Mr. Maze will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 27, 2021, immediately following the service in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed during the funeral service and the visitation.
Born February 25, 1946 in Winter Haven, Florida, Mr. Maze was the son of the late Thomas A. Maze and Billye Leona Bryant Maze. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Lee Miles Maze. Before retiring, he worked for the United States Department of Agriculture at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 21 in Tifton for 40 years, and he volunteered as a Red Coat with the Tift Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Army and served as Executive Officer at Mountain Ranger Camp. He was a member of Mount Calvary United Methodist Church and attended Northside Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Maze is survived by his wife, Harlene Robertson Maze of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer Lynn and Jack Lockhart of Valdosta and Mary Elizabeth Simpson of Tifton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Brenya Lockhart, Laeken and Nick Jewell, and Haley and James Golden; four great-grandchildren, Scott Golden, Madilyn Golden, Caden Lockhart, and Lyla Fost; and his special granddog, Oddo.
