Georgia Lee Waggoner, 96, died February 14, 2021 in Fort Wayne.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio to George and Marie Gerlach, attended Ohio State University, and earned degrees from Wheaton College and Capitol University.
From a young age, she loved Jesus and knew she wanted to serve the Lord. She spent nine years in New Philadelphia, Ohio teaching Weekday Religious Education under the New Philadelphia Council of Churches and served as director of the program in her final year there. She organized many community service projects for Church World Service and the American Friends Service Committee, was a member of the College Club and Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and was an honorary member of the Child Conservation League. Georgia moved to Anderson, Indiana in 1956, where she met Robert Waggoner; they married in 1959. She was the director of Weekday Religious Education for the Anderson Association of Churches for six years and then served as the Children’s Director at Colonial United Methodist Church for 12 years. Georgia was active in Park Place Church of God, Women of the Church of God, Meals on Wheels and enjoyed interacting with a wide variety of people through her home craft business.
Georgia is survived by her step-daughter Ann (Lionel) Kreamer; grandchildren, Virginia Kreamer-Lutz, Aaron Kreamer, Nickolas and Nathaniel McCormick; 11 great-grandchildren, sister Maralyn Williams; two nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Waggoner and her daughter Nancy McCormick.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021, with calling from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Rd. Anderson, IN. The Reverend Philip Kinley will be officiating. Masks are required. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels America.
