CHICOPEE – Therese (Lambert) Mathieu, 91, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 14, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving husband and son. She was born in Warwick, Province of Quebec, Canada on April 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Hector and Marguerite (Croteau) Lambert. She was raised in Victoriaville, P.Q., Canada, settled in the North End section of Springfield in 1955, and moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in 1963 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a seamstress at the former Asinof Manufacturing Company in Chicopee. She and her husband, Yvon, were active members with the Aldenville Junior Athletic Club (AJAC) in Chicopee. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and memere who was always there for her family. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Yvon Mathieu. They were married at Eglise Saint Gabriel-Lalement in Victoriaville, P.Q., Canada on September 1, 1956 and were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving son, Charles A. Mathieu of Westfield; her three cherished grandsons, Kyle, Justin, and Alex Mathieu; her two dear brothers, Clement Lambert and his wife, Colette and Raymond Lambert and his wife, Janine, all of Canada; her two dear sisters, Aline Perreault and her husband, Roch, and Marie-Anne Giguere, all of Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, close friends, neighbors and extended family members in Canada. Therese also leaves her lifelong best friend, Monique Savoie of Springfield. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving son, Guy Yvon Mathieu who was Called Home on November 15, 2004; her loving daughter-in-law, Gina (Bousquet) Mathieu who was Called Home on April 30, 2002; her three dear brothers, Philippe, Andre and Jean Lambert; and her two dear sisters, Monique Charland and Francoise Lambert. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday morning, February 20, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
