Obituary


Carolyn M. Curtis, of Woburn formerly of Arlington passed away peacefully, February 14, 2021, following a short illness. She was 74. Carolyn was the beloved wife of the late Brian J. Curtis. Born in Somerville she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Frances (Iovine) Scaglione.

Carolyn was born and raised in Somerville. She was a graduate of Emanuel College and earned her Master's Degree in Education from Lesley University. Following her marriage to her beloved Brian, together they moved to Arlington where they lived for a number of years prior to settling in Woburn. Carolyn worked for many years as a much loved elementary and special education school teacher with the Woburn School Department.

During the summer months Carolyn loved spending time at her home in Dennis Port on Cape Cod. She loved the beach and being with her family and friends sharing quality time together and being social. Carolyn also loved all things Disney and over the years enjoyed many trips to Disney World with her family. She also loved caring for her chocolate Labrador "Bailey". However, her greatest joy was her family and especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by those she truly loved.

Carolyn is survived by her children; Michael Curtis and his wife Gizele of Woburn, Lisa Grimes and her husband Jason of Woburn, Jennifer Canales and her husband Matthew of North Andover, Kate Bozio and her husband Michael of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Yasmine Curtis, Patrick Grimes, Brian Curtis, Kelsi Grimes, and Briana Canales. Sister of Patricia Chartier of Waltham. Sister-in-law of Fraelean Curtis of Medford and Maura Jane Griffin of Woburn and is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral Mass that will be celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, Thursday, February 18th, at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. All attending must wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing protocols. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers Contributions may be made in Carolyn's memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
