Ellen Markey Murphy, 46, of New York City died February 10, 2021 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City after a short illness.
Born July 30, 1974 in Portsmouth, VA, daughter of Ellen (Markey) and Henry T. Murphy, Jr., she was raised in Corpus Christi, TX and lived overseas before moving to New York City in 2012.
She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas and a member of Corpus Christi Cathedral Choir.
Ellen was graduated from Gregory-Portland High School in 1992, from Incarnate Word University with a BA in Music, in 1996; from Texas A & M, Corpus Christi with MA in Education in 1997, and from NOVA University with MA in Management Information Systems in 2007.
She was employed by the Department of Defense as a Computer Teacher at Naval Base, Yokosuka, Japan from 1999 to 2004; and at Naval Base Naples, Italy from 2004 to 2012.
Survivors include mother, Ellen (Markey) Murphy and father, Henry T. "Hank" Murphy, Jr. of New Bedford, MA; and her brother, H. Timothy "Tim" Murphy, III of Houston, Texas.
