James R. Connor, 40, of East Lyme, CT passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021. He was born May 27, 1980 in New Bedford, MA. James moved to Fairhaven during his childhood, but always considered the south end of New Bedford home.
His fondest memories were the days he spent playing baseball at Clegg Field, and traveling with the SEYAA all-star team for many years. The highlight of those years was pitching for the team in Puerto Rico two years in a row, at ages 9 and 10.
James loved to ski, ride motorcycles, race motocross, working out at the gym, and being at the beach. He had a passion for learning and often said he wished he could have a career as a professional student. James was always up for a good debate. He also shared his love for Star Wars with his cousins Andrew and Jon. He was happiest when spending time with his two children.
He graduated from Greater New Bedford Voc in 1999 from the Health Services shop, and from the BCC RN program in 2012. He was currently employed at Aware Recovery Care in CT, where he was admired by his clients and coworkers.
James is survived by his mother, Gail Rebello; two children, Norah and Nolan Connor; his sister, Katie and her husband Chris Andrade; his girlfriend, Nikki Cook and her two children, Ella and Aiden; his maternal grandfather, Felix Hodziewich; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert Connor; his stepfather, Brian Rebello; his maternal grandmother, Olga Hodziewich; and his paternal grandparents, James and Natalie Connor.
His Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 1-3 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
