Edna (Astley) Howland, 99, of Acushnet died February 10, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late William H. Vaughan and Matthew C. Howland.
Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, daughter of the late William and Henrietta (Pierce) Astley, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth most of her life.
She was formerly employed as food service supervisor at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home for many years until her retirement.
She was Past Matron of the Eastern Star Cortez-Allen Chapter 161 and past High Priest of the Ladies Shrine of North America.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Francis of Acushnet; a son, David Vaughan and his wife Patricia of Round Lake Park, IL; 6 step-children; 4 grandchildren, Stephen Francis, Sherry Medeiros, Sandra Howard and Robert Vaughan; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Robert Francis.
Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 19th at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church at Lunds Corner. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, February 18th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
