Obituary

Virginia (Liborio) Borges, 93 of Lowell, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of the late Duarte Borges who died in 1969.

She was born August 15, 1927 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, was raised and educated in Portugal. She came to the United States in 1969, making her home in Lowell until her passing. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.

In her younger days, she was a professional seamstress before working for Wang Laboratories as an assembler. She loved spending time with her family, and she leaves behind many cherished memories of time spent together. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking.

Her survivors include her son, Carlos Borges and his wife, Lorete; her daughter in law and caretaker, Mary Jo Borges; her grandchildren, Jenny Borges and her wife, Erised Hernandez, Melissa Borges, Monique Borges, and Danielle, Mike, Deanna, Michelle, and their mother, Sue, and her grandson, Kurt; as well as several great grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late Gualter ‘Walter’ M. Borges and the late Joseph M. Borges.

While practicing social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask, you are invited to her visitation on Tuesday, 8:30 until 11 a.m. at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.

Due to covid-19 restrictions, her funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church and burial in St. Mary Cemetery will be held on Tuesday privately.

In lieu flowers, the family asks for donations in Virginia’s memory to: Lowell Transitional Living Center, 205-209 Middlesex Street, Lowell MA 01852.
