Michael R. Mason, 57

Dateline: Norton, MA

Michael R. Mason, age 57, a retired Boston Firefighter, of Norton, formerly of Norwood and Mansfield, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

Born in Boston, MA on March 15, 1963, he was a loving son of the late Michael L. and Rosalie E. (Danahy) Mason.

Mike grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was a 1981 graduate of Don Bosco High School. He proudly served the City of Boston as a Firefighter assigned to Engine 42 and when younger was a member of the United States Army Reserve.

A resident of Norton for the past five years, he was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and while living in Mansfield, was a parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield.

Michael loved spending time with his family and had formerly played softball with his fellow firefighters in the Fort Hill Softball League. He enjoyed attending movies, dining out, radio talk shows, tracking the weather and storms, and when younger was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his devoted sons: Luke Mason and Sean Mason, both of Norwood. He was the dear brother of Catherine Connaughton and her husband Paul of Mansfield, Rosemarie Loesher and her husband James of Mansfield, Barbara Manley and her husband Thomas of Mansfield and Lisa Maffie and her husband Robert of Canton. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews and his former wife Lee Mason.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 15th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 16th at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will be private.

Due to a capacity of 120 people allowed at the church services, a livestream is available by visiting Facebook and going to Saint Marys Church, Norton
