Clarice M. (Shea) Gamble Poirier, 84, of New Bedford, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital, due to complications from the COVID Virus.
She was the daughter of the late John and Marie Yvonne (Michaud) Shea. Clarice was born in New Bedford on October 3, 1936 and was raised in Sassaquin and always called it home. She was a life long parishioner of St. Lawrence Church.
Clarice graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Fairhaven and Jesus Mary Academy in Fall River. She received her cosmetology license from the Institute of Hair and Beauty Culture. She worked at Emily's Beauty Salon and Scotty's Salon in Downtown New Bedford. She worked as a teachers aide. After graduating from Kinyon-Campbell Business School, she worked at New Bedford City Hall.
Clarice enjoyed fashion and loved shopping with Sue. She was a huge fan of LeBron James and watching golf. She enjoyed relaxing at the ponds and beaches of the area, then going for a ride in the country for ice cream. Mostly she treasured the times her family would gather together.
Clarice is survived by her loving family, Donna Gamble and her husband Michael Spoor, Susan Gamble and her fiance Eddie Santos, Jay Costello and his wife Karen, and Glenn Costello and his wife Yvonne; her grandchildren Melissa Guimont, Thomas Gamble III, and Marshall DeCosta-Gamble; and her great-granddaughter Kylie Gamble.
She was predeceased by Thomas Gamble, Jr., and James Costello and her former husband, Thomas Gamble.
