Brian T. Carroll

TEWKSBURY: Brian T. Carroll, age 73, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 9 years, previously of the Abington and Whitman area, passed away at his home in the care of his family and hospice on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Lawless) O’Connell, with whom he celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary on May 18, 2020.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert E. Carroll and the late Margaret (Clougherty) Carroll.
Brian was raised in Abington, and graduated from Abington High School in 1965.
He attended Bentley University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
In 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, a Meritorious Unit Citation, the Good Conduct Medal, the Expert Badge Rifle M-14, and the Sharpshooter Badge.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Contracting Officer by the U.S. Government Department of Defense.
Brian was a member of the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus, the Enterprise Club of Brockton, the Abington American Legion, and was a Life Member of the Abington V.F.W.
He enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, golfing, and was a voracious reader. Brian was a football fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots.
Brian, who was a member of the Holy Trinity Polish Church, was an usher at the Saturday 4:00 O’clock Mass and also a bell ringer on certain occasions.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Thomas B. Carroll and his wife Jennifer of Brockton. He was the brother of Bruce M. Carroll and his wife Jean of Abington, Robert T. Carroll (Deceased) and his wife Patty of Carver; his former wife, Jean (Youlden) Carroll of Abington; a nephew, Robert B. Carroll; also many extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Monday, Feb. 15, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Polish Church, 340 High St., Lowell. Interment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Masks/social distancing required at all venues. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring his memory may be made to the Abington American Legion, PO Box 2016, 1027 Washington St., Abington, MA 02351.
