Ethel R. Swedberg, 77
Worcester — Ethel R. (Nordstrom) Swedberg, 77, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021. She leaves one daughter and two sons, Kim M. Swedberg of Worcester, Richard S. Swedberg and his wife Joyce of Worcester, and Jon S. Swedberg and his wife Lucy of Sharon; eight grandchildren, Jessica Holden and her partner Mack Rooney, Joshua Holden and his wife Molly Scannell, and Emily Holden and her fiancé Nick Miller, Griffin, Madison, and Dylan Swedberg, and Dean and Cole Swedberg; two brothers, Helge Nordstrom and his wife Helen, and Carl Nordstrom and his wife Carol; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years Richard A. Swedberg and by five siblings, Hilding Nordstrom, Robert Nordstrom, Esther Thompson, Hulda Peloquin, and Alice U. Nordstrom.
Ethel was born in Worcester, the youngest child of the late Carl J. and Edith C. (Westlund) Nordstrom. She was a graduate of South High School and worked as an office manager at the former Riley Stoker Corporation for many years. She was an active member of Salem Covenant Church where she faithfully sang in the choir and was a member of the Covenant Women’s group. She was a member of Nordic Lodge No. 611 Vasa Order of America and the Greendale YMCA. Creative and artistic, Ethel enjoyed many hobbies, including painting, crocheting, baking, jewelry making, and gardening. She was the consummate host, always ready with coffee and pastry. Most of all, she adored her family and took great pride in her children and grandchildren, who lovingly called her Minga.
Regrettably, but in keeping with COVID guidelines, funeral services will be private. Nordgren Memorial Chapel in Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
