Genevieve Ann (Rudek) Smith, age 98, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 at the Willimansett Center East Nursing Home from complications of COVID-19. Born on September 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kapinos) Rudek. She was predeceased by her husband, SSgt. Frank R Smith; her five brothers, Rudy, John, Joseph, Stanley, Frank; and her two sisters, Helen (Gosselin) and Anne (Phaneuf). She is survived by her son, Frank R Smith, Jr; her brother, Edward R Rudek, and many nieces and nephews. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, Jenny grew up in a close-knit family that enjoyed getting together for family celebrations. There would always be music, good food, and lots of laughter. Dancing was a passion she enjoyed throughout her life, from early polka and big band dance competitions with her brother Ed to line dancing as a senior. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Frank to Florida and to visit his family in New Hampshire, and continued to travel on bus tours with her group of friends. She was an avid gambler and enjoyed trips to the casinos in Connecticut, playing Bingo, and the lottery. She was so excited when she won a big prize! She liked to keep busy and worked in local Factories(Sickles, Superbrush), as a School crossing guard, and house keeper. She spent her final years at Willimansett Center East. A special thank you to her caring nurses and CNA team. Unfortunately, at 98 years, she was no match for COVID-19, and passed away quickly but peacefully. A celebration of her life and internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USO, https://pioneervalley.uso.org/Westover Air Reserve Base, 250 Jenkins Street, Chicopee, MA. 01022.
