WINDHAM – William (Bill) E. Chipman, age 80, passed away on February 8, 2021 in Scarborough after extended health issues.
Bill was born on April 20, 1940 in Milbridge, ME. He was adopted by Doris (Davis) Chipman and Roger Chipman who raised him in Lubec, Maine where he played basketball and graduated from Lubec High School. He graduated from Babson College with a degree in Management and Production and then served in the Navy. Bill started his career in the banking industry then worked for the Town of Orono as assessor and City of Falmouth as assessor before moving on to work in the senior housing field and then for the Town of Yarmouth as a code enforcement officer. During his career he also served on the Windham Planning Board and Windham Cable Committee. Bill was a member of the American Legion.
His enjoyment of computers and gaming kept his interest from his very first Commodore to the Nintendo Switch. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Boston Red Sox and dabbled in photography.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, his aunt Margaret (Peg) Correll, his uncle Wallace (Wally) Davis, and his cousin Donald (Donnie) Parker. He is survived by his son Eric Chipman of Windham, his daughter Sonja Gately and son-in-law Michael of Westbrook and his grandsons Joseph and Jacob.
A private, family service will be held in the spring.
