Mrs. Sussan M. (Pilaeten) Swanson, a resident of Woburn, formerly of Medford and beloved wife of the late John J. Swanson, passed away at her home on Sunday morning, February 7, 2021. She was 90 years old.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts on June 9, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Germaine (Maudens) Pilaeten. Sussan had been employed as a Manager for Stop & Shop, for many years. Above all, she was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, eating out and going on cruises.
Sussan is survived by her loving children; Richard J. and his wife Susan G. Swanson of Burlington, Anmarie S. and her husband Larry N. McGonagle and Jeannine Holden of Medford, grandchildren; Lawrence McGonagle, Shannon Dennis, Sean McGonagle, Ian Swanson, Shayna Swanson and John-Michael Boudreau, step-grandchildren; Dan, Amanda, Derek and Andrew, great-grandchildren; Olivia, Caileigh, Ivy, Anthony, Caroline, Rowan, Ben and Eva and many nieces and nephews. Sussan was also the sister of the late Henny and Eliane.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden on Friday, February 12, 2021, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brighton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sussan’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
