Obituary

Matthew Philip Dalton, Jr., 22 of Abington, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on February 5th 2021.

Born in 1998, he was the loving son of Matthew Dalton of Abington and Jessica Fontaine of Brockton.

Most recently employed by Moderna in Norwood and prior to that he worked for Boston Mechanical Services. Matthew graduated from Abington High School in 2017, where as a natural athlete, he created many fond memories on the football and lacrosse fields. A pinnacle memory is when he and the football team won the Division 5 State Super Bowl Championship during the 2014 season. Following high school and before joining the workforce, Matthew attended Bridgewater State University.

Growing up, Junior enjoyed traveling with his family, attending Red Sox games with his dad and playing nearly every sport under the sun. Matthew was a great kid who would help anyone, anytime. Like so many of his peers, Matthew was an avid gamer and loved to spend time hanging with his buddies, especially his best friend Joey Trenouth. Matthew forged many friendships due to his kind ways and his gentle nature. If you knew him well or just met him you were sure to remember that contagious smile that was always on his face. All the younger cousins always looked forward to the holiday celebrations because they all got to rough-house with their older cousin “Beanso”.

Waiting in Heaven for Matthew were his paternal grandmother Roberta McCann and his maternal grandfather, Dennis Fontaine. Besides his parents, Matthew leaves behind his paternal grandparents Kathryn and L. Michael Dalton Sr. of Abington, his maternal grandmother, Sharon Arsenault of Clayville, Rhode Island, his aunts and uncles; L.
