Obituary

Lucille E. Hilton, 85 of Salem, NH died Friday February 5, 2021 at the Grey Stone Farm Assisted Living in Salem. Lucille was born in Gorham, NH on August 25, 1935, a daughter of the late, Fred and Edna (Wilson) O’Hara. She was employed as an operator Analyst at Bank of America.

She grew up in Andover, Ma graduating from Punchard High School in 1954. Her love of music drew her to the church choir where she became a popular soloist and a youth choir instructor. She loved the community her church provided teaching Sunday school, baking for church fairs, and joining the board of deacons at the age of 18. Her teaching even went beyond church teaching ice skating, square dancing, and a girl scout camp counselor. She had a great compassion for people in need devoting time to volunteering at the church food pantry and thrift store. A hardworking individual working the night shift as IRS security guard and later working for the Bank of Boston. She was a kindhearted, strong willed, fiercely independent woman who spread love and happiness to all who knew her.

She is survived by four children, John Hilton of Palmyra, IN , Charles Hilton of Whitlingham, VT , Helen Carmody of Methuen, MA , and Betty Lou Roberts of New York ,many grandchildren and great grandchildren , one brother, Alston O’Hara (predeceased) of Wichita Falls, TX , and Geneva O’Hara.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather safely. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to your local food pantry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
