Salem

Joan L. (Sadoski) Andruskiewicz, 94, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly at the North Shore Medical Center / Salem Hospital on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She was the devoted wife of the late John F. Andruskiewicz, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Beverly and raised in Salem, Joan was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Mary (Linskey) Sadoski. Following her graduation from Salem High, Class of ’44, Joan worked as the personal secretary for the superintendant of the former Pequot Mills of Salem. In 1948, she and John married. Later, Joan devoted her time to raising their family. In 1970 Joan began working as an administrative assistant for the Salem School Department at the Bentley and Salem High Schools. She retired from the School Department in 1993.
In retirement, Joan and John enjoyed activities at various local Senior Centers, especially travelling with friends and going to dances. She was a long-time member of the Salem Willows Yacht Club, and a past member of the Woman’s Friend Society of Salem.
Joan is survived by her son, Paul W. Andrus and his wife Carol of Winchester, her daughter, Jean M. Cobb and her husband Carleton ‘Chip’ of Salem, her sister, Lois Demmons of Peabody, four grandchildren: Matthew Andrus and his wife Julia, Sarah Azria and her husband Rahmin, Betsy Harrahy and her husband Brian, and David Cobb. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren: Ella, Olivia & Ada Azria, Joshua & Eliza Andrus, Colin & Cora Harrahy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
