Beverly
Gerard J. Matton, 76, of Beverly, passed away at the Beverly Hospital on Friday. Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Alphonse J. and Marie A. (Poitras) Matton.
Following his graduation from Salem High School, he enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam with the Army as a clerk. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and began working for Wang Laboratories. Gerry remained with Wang until 1986 when he and his family moved to Orlando, FL. He then returned to the North Shore and continued to work in developing and building computers. Gerry also was an avid New England sports fan.
He is survived by his two sons, Seth J. Matton and his wife Kelly of Madison, CT and Luke E. Matton and his wife Amelia of Marlborough, his brother Frank Matton and his wife Ellen of Nashua, NH, four grandchildren: Brady & Bailey Matton and Aidan & Madeline Matton. His daughter Heather Matton and brothers, George, Richard, Robert and Wilfred Matton, predeceased him.
His visiting hours will be on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. All guests must wear protective face coverings, observe social distancing and avoid physical contact with family members.
