Martha (Sharp) Oyler, 99, passed away January 30, 2021, at Independence Village of Avon, after an extended illness.
Martha was born April 23, 1921, in Henry County, the daughter of Walter and Hattie (Fadley) Sharp. She was valedictorian of her senior Class of 1939.
She grew up attending Honey Creek United Methodist Church and then was a 50+ year member of Anderson First United Methodist Church, where she was very active. She was also active with Salvation Army of Madison County. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and made little girl dresses for Doctors Without Borders through the Avon Quiltery. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists and Anderson Research Club. She was an American Youth Foundation Camp Counselor.
She married Rex W. Oyler in Honey Creek United Methodist Church on a 72 hour military pass during World War II, on September 21, 1943.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette (Steven) Coomer of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Stephanie L. Brown of Brownsburg and several nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her spouse in 2000, her parents, and her daughter, Jane Oyler in 2018.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Corinne Boruff officiating. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday before the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson First United Methodist Church.
