SOMERSET – Roger J. Alves, age 82 of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was the husband of the late Joan M. (Petres ) Alves and the son of the late Camillo C. and Jennie J. (Rybka) Alves.
Roger was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired as a Firefighter for the Fall River Fire Dept. He was an avid sports enthusiast and an inductee into the Durfee Athletic Hall of Fame as a player on the 1957 Baseball team
He is survived by his siblings: Barbara Tavares (late husband David) of Somerset, Richard Alves (wife Elaine) of Westport, Carol Byron (husband Stephen) of N. Dartmouth, and Sharon Weber (husband John) of Manassas, VA; godsons: Todd Byron & Ricky Alves Jr.; many nieces & nephews. Roger was the brother of the late infant Camillo C. Alves Jr., Robert Alves (wife Maria) and Gene Alves (wife Jackie).

Following cremation, family & friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Roger in St. Thomas More Church, Somerset on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at 10:00 A.M.
