James “Jim” Wendell Smith, 65, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, February 1, 2021 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating.
Mr. Smith was born April 9, 1955 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to Alice Harper Register and the late James William Smith. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1973 and served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1973 until 1980. Mr. Smith loved his country and his family. Mr. Smith returned to Fitzgerald after living in Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his mother Alice Register of Fitzgerald; two sisters: Tina Smith Walker & Glen of Callahan, Florida and Elaine Smith Fowler & Kyle of Fitzgerald. Several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Smith and a sister, Peggy Smith Davis.
