Obituary

Colleen J. Dube, 76, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021, at home surrounded by family. Born on June 29, 1944 in Woburn, MA, she was the daughter of the late William “Happy” and late Elsie (Spares) Gath. She grew up in Tewksbury, MA, graduated from Keith Hall in Lowell, MA, and was a resident of Derry, NH for over 56 years. She worked at MFE/Stocker-Yale in Salem, NH, then at Insight Technology in Manchester, NH, prior to retiring in 2010.

Despite her long and courageous battle with cancer taking a heavy toll on her, she was known for her smile and laughter with every interaction until the very end. Colleen was a very caring and kind person, who’s greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a “social butterfly” who enjoyed quality time with everyone she met and was loved dearly by all her friends and family. She enjoyed spending summers camping at Cascade Campground in Loudon, NH. She loved reading, gardening, playing the organ, karaoke, bingo, board/card games and traveling. She was an avid crafter, holding an annual craft sale at her home and at numerous fairs. Her life provided her family and friends with stories to tell for years to come. She will be deeply missed by all who came to know and love her.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Laurence J. Dube; sons, Karl & Carmen Curtis of Verona, WI; Scott Curtis & Catherine Allard of Chester, NH; daughters, Candy & Gerry Menard of Chester, NH; Mary & Gerald O’Sullivan of Naperville, IL; Pamela Frazier & David Dong of Bolingbrook, IL; brothers, Richard & Peggy Gath of Tewksbury, MA; William Gath of Aztec, NM; Michael & Carole Gath of Whitefield, NH; sister, Edna & Walter Moran of Lake Ariel, PA; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Dawn Rogers of Tewksbury, MA.

After cremation, a memorial reception with walk-thru visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. Due to State guidelines, attendance will be limited, and all guests are required to wear masks, minimize contact and maintain social distancing.
