Obituary


Matthew Thomas Hidenfelter, 32 of Worcester, died Wednesday, January 27. He leaves his fiancé Jennifer Bozsar and their two sons Cory and Cole, his Mother Debra McCarthy, his Stepfather James Crotty, his father Mark Hidenfelter and his wife Leah Camiso-Hidenfelter, two sisters Megan Hidenfelter, Jessica Hidenfelter and her husband Gary Wheeler, his nieces and nephews Logan Hidenfelter, Brienna “Andi” Wheeler, Nolan Wheeler and his unborn niece Maddie Wheeler, all of Worcester. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matthew was born and raised in Worcester. He was a United States Army Veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 4th Infantry Division as a communication specialist. He earned several medals during deployment which include Iraq Campaign Medal with Two Campaign Starts, the Army Commendation Medal, The Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and The Global War of Terrorism Service Medal just to name a few. Matthew attended Porter and Chester where he earned his certificate in HVAC. He was a well-rounded sports star and he loved to make people laugh. His favorite times were spent with his beloved dog Tyra, his family and his friends especially his fiancé and their boys. Matthew will be missed immensely.
His funeral is Thursday, February 4th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 4 Spaulding Street, Worcester (Please go directly to church). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 3rd from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to A Soldiers Child Foundation, 1197 Hazelwood Drive, Suite 104, Smyrna, TN 37127. All COVID-19 precautions will be adhered to, including face masks and social distancing, during all segments of the funeral.
