CHICOPEE – Leslie A. “Les” Fournier, 82, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 31, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on November 15, 1938, the beloved son of the late Lillian May Fournier. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and had lived in Aldenville his entire life. He served his country in the Massachusetts Army National Guard with the 104th Infantry Company C. He furthered his education and received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed as a Chief Electrician for 40 years at the former A.G. Spalding Sporting Goods in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. During his early years, he was a member of the boy scouts, attained the rank of Eagle Scout and through his scout troop served as the secretary to the Mayor of Chicopee for a day. Active in his community, he was a former member of the Chicopee Conservation Commission and a former member of the Elder Council 69 Knights of Columbus, both in Chicopee. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Cheryl A. (Holmes) Fournier. They were married on May 9, 1987 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church and were blessed with over 33 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Thomas L. Fournier and his wife, Elaine, Jennifer R. Lelievre and her husband, Robert, and Lenny T. Martial, all of Chicopee; his seven cherished grandchildren, Silvia E. and Joshua T. Fournier, Travis Lelievre and his wife, Mattie, Alyssa Lelievre and Chyanne, Hayden and Erin Martial; his three dear sisters-in-law, Angela Holmes of Holden, Darlene Blair of Granby, and Laura Hamel and her husband, Ed, of Feeding Hills; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. His Funeral will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home for a WALK-THRU Visitation on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
