Thomas Joseph Fahey passed away peacefully at the Massachusetts General Hospital on January 26th. He was 92. A life-long Medford resident he was the son of the late John Augustine and Delia (Moynahan) Fahey. In addition to a long career in electronics, Thomas began a life-time of public service, when during World War II he served in the local Civil Defense Corps. He enlisted in the National Guard and served with the famed Yankee Division for 32 years, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. During his time he served in various capacities including manning missile defense systems during the Korean War.
A licensed pilot, Tom was a member of the Aero Club at Hanscom Airforce Base and on several occasions was asked to lend aerial guidance to the Thunderbirds. Locally, he served as Chief of the Medford Special Police, Captain of the Medford Park Police, was a member of the Lawrence Light Guard, Medford Kiwanis and served as Chair of the Board of Registrars of Voters.
A co-founder of East Coast Electronics, the firm provided electronic systems and equipment to companies and institutions throughout the New England area. Thomas was devoted to his family and will always be remembered a good husband and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
The beloved husband of Teresa (Canfield) Fahey, Tom was a devoted father of Michael Fahey and his wife Civita of Topsfield, Mary Kate Little and her husband Steven of Tewksbury, William Fahey and his wife Chris of Medford, the late Patrick Fahey and his surviving wife Linda of Medford. He was a loving grandfather to Chrysten Reinold, Cameron Fahey, Jake Little and a dear brother to John A. Fahey of MD, Joseph T. Fahey of CA and the late Paul P. Fahey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, February 4th from 10 AM to 12 Noon with a funeral service in the funeral home at Noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
