George A. “Buster” Martell
Atlantic Gelatin (Kraft Foods) Retiree

METHUEN: George A. “Buster” Martell, age 81, a resident of Methuen for 14 years, passed away at the Meadow View Center in North Reading on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Born in Cambridge on October 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Amable Martell and the late Catherine (Martell) Martell.

George was raised in Cambridge. He attended St Paul’s grammar school and went to Rindge Technical High School

He resided in Cambridge until moving to the Brighton area of Boston. He then moved to Methuen in 2007.

Prior to his retirement, George worked as a Welder, Pipe Fitter and Maintenance Mechanic. Starting at Simplex Wiring, then Domino Sugar with his final job being for the Atlantic Gelatin Company (Kraft Foods)

In recent years, he was a communicant at St Theresa’s Church part of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish.

George “Buster” was known for his tremendous sense of humor, and ability to share a good joke or funny story.

He assisted many charitable organizations and helped anyone who was in need.

George is survived by his son, Matthew G. Martell and his wife Roberta “Bobbie” of Tewksbury; his sister, Virginia O’Donnell of Reading; his special friend, Luella Jobin; also many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was the brother of the late Marie Colosimo, Katherine Cooney, Ann Martell, Theresa Fitzgerald, John, Joseph, and Thomas “Jimmy” Martell.

Calling hours in adherence to State Covid-19 guidelines will be Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 5-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service to be held at 12 Noon at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Methuen. Cemetery limited to 25 attendees. Masks/ social distancing required at all venues. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org and or the Pregnancy Care Center at www.pccfriends.org
