Long time Keefe Technical High School committee member and advocate for the elderly, Thomas M. Leddy, 92, of Needham, formerly Framingham, passed away Jan. 27, 2021 surrounded by his children.
Tom was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, NY by Michael and Mary Leddy. He was the eldest son of Irish immigrants (Cavan/Longford) in a tightly-knit Roman Catholic family of ten children. After graduating from LaSalle Academy, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a sergeant and tank commander during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged and held various jobs ranging from longshoreman to NY state trooper. After graduating from St. John’s University in New York, he joined the sales department at Procter & Gamble.
Tom took jobs of growing responsibility in sales and his career flourished as he moved into different executive management positions within Bell & Howell, Gillette and, ultimately, his own business representing various photo equipment companies nationwide.
As his career grew, so did his family. Married to the late Mary (Gannon) Leddy for 36 years, they had six children. There was nothing that made Tom happier than spending time with his own family and large extended family. Late in life, he also began a modeling career putting him on the pages of catalogs, magazines, and television commercials.
Tom leaves his children, Thomas B. Leddy Esq. and his wife Amy of Osterville; Kevin F. Leddy and his wife Maureen of West Roxbury; Mary, Claire and Patricia Leddy of Framingham and the late Brendan Leddy. He leaves his beloved grandchildren Caitlin Leddy of New York City; John C. Leddy Esq. and his wife Chelsea of New York City; Kevin O. and Jaclyn Leddy of West Roxbury and Conor Leddy of Brighton. He was the devoted great-grandfather of Maeve and Owen Leddy; brother of the late Mae (Leddy) and George Armstrong; the late James and Eileen Leddy; the late Bernadette (Leddy) and Jack Sidebotham; John Leddy; Michael and his wife Pat Leddy all of New York; Eileen (Leddy) and her husband Kenneth Dudwick; and Gerard Leddy, all of California and the late Elizabeth “Betty” and Raymond Leddy. Brother-in-law of Walter and Mary Gannon, Mary Ann Leddy of New York and John and Ann Gannon of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 26 beloved nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services have been held followed by interment with military honors in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
