Obituary

Joan Frances (Falcone) Spurgin 85, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, at her home, with family at her side, Thursday January 28, 2021, following an illness.

Born July 12, 1935, in Boston, a daughter of the late John and Josephine Falcone, she was a resident of Franklin for many years.

She was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of the former Gate of Heaven High School. She also attended Bentley University.

A proud American, she served in the United States Marine Corps and attained the rank of Corporal. She was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in November 1959.

Joan was devoted to raising her children and caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and all New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox.

She is survived by her children, Jerry L. Spurgin of Dallas, Texas, Mark D. Spurgin of Alaska, Terry L. Elliott of Franklin and Donna A. Arpin and her husband Daniel of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, siblings,  Irene Anzalone of Bellingham.and John Falcone of Lakeland, Florida.

Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Michael Arpin, Bryanna Arpin, Justine Spurgin, Jacqueline Spurgin, Porsche Van Dorn Dean, Jamm Spurgin, Marc Elliott, Scott Elliott and 7 great grandchildren.

Joan was the sister of the late Matthew Falcone and Joseph Falcone.

Due to Covid-19 a graveside service followed by military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be held at a later date.
