James P. Barker, 69, of Chester, NH, passed away Wednesday January 27, 2021, in the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. He was born in Boston, MA on August 29, 1951, a son of James P., II and Yvonne (Petipas) Barker.
Jim was an electrician out of IBEW 103 in Boston, prior to his many years with 103 he served in the US Army. Jim had many interests and loved to take classes. He was a member of the UNH Cooperate Extension Master Gardeners Program, he dabbled in astronomy, ham radio and photography, he was an avid boater and fisherman in his younger days. He took flying classes to become a pilot and boating classes to become a captain. He loved being on the ocean whether it be whale watching, fishing or just cruising. His biggest joy was spending time with his family, his kids and his grandkids meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce MacMillan; his children, Michelle Durkee, James P. Barker, IV and wife Kathryn and Colin MacMillan; grandchildren, William and Brielle Durkee, Connor MacMillan and Aurelia Barker; siblings, Cheryl Farrell, Mary Stuart and predeceased by his brother Kenneth Barker.
Following cremation, the burial will be held privately for the family in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH.
