Obituary

It is with great sadness and in loving memory, that the family of Jack Bresnahan, age 86, of Brookline, announce his passing on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Jack Bresnahan, a devoted husband and father, was a writer, singer, song-writer and a Musical Director whose greatest joy was preparing and presenting musical shows that would bring his audiences laughter and happiness. He was committed to spreading love, merriment and humanity to all he encountered. His musical training began at an early age with his mother, a kindergarten teacher, who was also a singer and a pianist. He began playing the violin at 6 yrs. old and singing not long after. For years, as a young man, he was part of the company at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset where his parents Marguerite Foley and Thomas Bresnahan, a distinguished criminal lawyer, Boston, had a summer home in Scituate. A graduate of Boston college, like his father before him, he went into the Army for two years as a 1st Lieutenant in the Signal Corp. After that, Jack spent a number of years in New York City working on different Broadway Shows and Operas. He later worked as a copywriter and Creative Director at Ingalls Associates, ad agency in Boston.

In 1962, he married the love of his life, Cecilia Soriano and together they had an adventurous journey, filled with music and their two children, Thomas F. Bresnahan of Los Angeles, CA and Alyssa A. Bresnahan of New York City. His granddaughter Shannon Rose Colby, also of New York City, was the apple of his eye.

The family plans no service at this time, due to Covid-19. There will be a memorial gathering in the garden of their home, in Brookline later in the summer.

Special heartfelt thanks go to all the staff at the Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer’s Care for providing their utmost care, consideration and attention to Jack during the last year of his life.
