Obituary

Luigi D'Alfonso, age 84, of Somerville passed away on Tuesday, January 26th, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born and raised in Lettomanopello, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Ferrante) D'Alfonso. Luigi came to the US in 1968 and settled in Somerville. He also lived in Medford, and was employed as an iron worker. Luigi loved making wine, gardening, fishing, hunting, and listening to Italian music. His greatest joy came from watching birds and spending time with his family, who were everything to him.

Luigi was the beloved husband of the late Pierina (Ferrante) D’Alfonso, and the devoted father of Antonio D'Alfonso and his wife Marisa of Saugus, and Gus D'Alfonso and his wife Tina of Wilmington. He was the loving grandfather of Antonio D'Alfonso Jr., Gina D'Alfonso and her partner Joseph Field, Nicholas D'Alfonso and his partner Lexie Maffei, Brianna D'Alfonso and her fiancé Andrew Vellucci, and Daniel D'Alfonso. Luigi was the loving great grandfather of Joseph Field, and the dear brother of Angela, Giuseppina and Santa, and their families in Italy.
