Bruce A. Rose, 67, of Boston passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was the victim of a home invasion on Christmas Eve and succumbed to his injuries.
He was born and raised in New Bedford and after high school he relocated to Boston for college. Bruce loved the city so much that he remained there and made Boston his home. He worked for the Massachusetts Highway Department until his retirement. Bruce managed to buy a house in Boston’s South End, the property was overrun with trash, broken down cars and squatters. He made it his mission and worked tirelessly to clean up the neighborhood so that he could create a beautiful and safe place for people to live. Pompeii Street was his pride and joy.
Bruce loved being around his nieces, Stacey Link, Tisa and Kim Rosa and Paige Soares, when they were young. He also had a great relationship with his favorite nephew, Justin Rose and they spent so much time together. Bruce also loved his daily beach walks with his dog, Misse’ and his beloved, Cissy. Everyone he met became a close friend and he was always the life of the party.
He is the son of Alice M. Rose and the late Joseph A. (Veedol) Rose, Sr. Bruce is also survived by his siblings, Joseph A. Rose, Jr. of Palm Springs, California, Sandra Link and Lisa Rose, both of New Bedford, and Larry Rose and his wife Donna of Freetown. He is also survived by his Auntie Shirley Soares, his Uncles Stanley and Ronald Peters and many cousins and dear friends. Bruce also leaves behind Pedro Morales and his fiancé Alicia.
Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, Bruce's funeral services will be held at a later time.
