William J. Walker Jr., 92, of Greenville passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Rigney) Walker. They had been married for 26 years before she passed in 1985.
Born in Providence, a son of the late William J. and Virginia (Lombardi) Walker. He had previously lived in Cranston before moving to Greenville in 1959. Bill was a WWII Army Veteran.
Bill had worked in the shipping department at the former Imperial Knife in Providence for over 40 years. He then worked in Inventory Control with RI Buckle Company in Providence before retiring. After retirement he worked as a custodian at St. Philip Church. He was a communicant of St. Philip Church in Smithfield and a member of it’s Men’s Club. He was also a member of Smithfield VFW Post 2929.
He leaves his daughter-in-law Jane E. Walker of Smithfield, his grandson, William J. Walker, IV and his wife Lauren of Kernersville, NC. He was the great-grandfather of Caden John Walker. He was the father of the late William J. Walker, III. and brother of the late Margaret Boyle and Evelyn Santurri.
His funeral was private. Burial with Military Honors was in the RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St Philip School, 618 Putnam Pike, Smithfield, RI 02828
