Manuel D. "Grassy" Raposa, 77, of Westport, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Priscilla J. (Arruda) Raposa.
Born in the Azores, son of the late Manuel and Hilda (Perreira) Raposa, he had lived in Westport since 1972. Prior to retirement, he was a construction foreman for Charles Capone Construction in Dedham for over 30 years. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church for over 40 years. Mr. Raposa enjoyed playing golf, spending time outdoors working in his yard, traveling and dancing with his wife. He lived life to the fullest and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Including his wife, survivors include 2 sons: Michael J. Raposa and his wife Tricia of Westport and Jay M. Raposa and his wife Nancy of Westport; 2 daughters: Lisa A. Lebreux and her husband Richard of Westport and Gina M. Raposa Johnson of CT; 2 brothers: Jose Raposa of Westport and Vincent Raposa of Fall River; a sister: Mary Lou Dias of Westport; 8 grandchildren: Joshua, Zachary, Daniel, Jay II, Victoria, Robert and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was grandfather of the late Phillip Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, February 1, 2021 at St. Theresa Church, 265 Stafford Rd., Tiverton, RI at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 5 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
