Cecilia “Leila” (Durkin) Lorbes, age 80, of Brockton, died unexpectedly, January 26, 2021 at the Brockton Hospital. She was the loving wife for 54 years of Jose Lorbes. Leila was born in Quincy, daughter of the late Mark and Lorraine (Lydon) Durkin.
Leila spent her entire career in the medical field, working as an RN and eventually as an administrator and consultant. She was well respected by her friends and colleagues and a mentor to many. While her roles in the field evolved over the years she always identified proudly as being a nurse. Well known for her sense of humor, her perfectly timed jokes will be remembered with smiles by all. The world got a little less funny when we lost her. Leila was also famous for her culinary talents. When word got out that Leila was cooking, they lined up at the door.
Leila was the mother of Christine Rogers of Southport, NC and Ann Lorbes, wife of Eric Saulnier of N. Attleboro and loving Nana to Elena and Dylan Rogers with whom she loved to spend time with and spend money on. She was the sister of the late Rosemary Durkin. Leila will be loved and missed by the Lorbes, Ramirez, Serrano clan and countless members of both sides of the family. Our hearts are broken. She will forever be remembered and missed.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday, January 29, 9-11am followed by a service at 11am. Burial will be held at a later date. Following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed in the funeral home, with a maximum of 25 people in the funeral home at any one time.
