SPENCER: Madelyn Marie (Ledoux) Morin, 88, formerly of Spring St., died Tuesday, Jan. 26 in UMASS Memorial Hospital, Worcester after a period of declining health. Her husband of 62 years, J.Donald Morin died in 2008. She leaves her son David Morin, Sr. and his wife Beth of Jackson, NJ, her daughter Donna Flannery and her husband Tom of Spencer, her daughter in law Pam Morin of Aiken, S.C., sisters Marguerite Sweet and her husband Harry of Spencer, Constance White and her husband Bill of Arizona, and her brother Roy Ledoux of Spencer, her grandchildren David Morin, Jr., Michael, Bryan & Matthew Morin, Tommy & Ryan Flannery and Kayleen Sauvageau, 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Mark L. Morin, grandson Jeffery Morin, great granddaughter Lucy Flannery, sisters Pauline Gryzb, Joanne Emerson, Helen Frelick and her sister in law Colleen Ledoux.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Leon and Adrienne (Roy) Ledoux and later graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer and the Salter Secretarial School in Worcester.
She was a longtime CCD teacher at the former St. Mary's Parish in Spencer and served several terms on the Spencer-E.Brookfield School Committee. She was a volunteer with Catholic Charities and a proud member of the Richard Sugden Library writers group which she loved. While living in Centerville on Cape Cod, she volunteered at the Osterville Library, Hyannis Food Pantry and Our Lady of Victory Church.
Madelyn was a published poet with the International Society of Poets. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, her flower gardens and spending time with her family.
Helping the poor both here and on Cape Cod was a passion for her and her family keeps it going. "A good Mom makes your day...a great Mom makes your whole life"...SHE was the best!
The family would like to thank her caregivers at St. Mary's Health Care in Worcester (especially Jane Ellen) which was a place she enjoyed as her second home.
A Memorial Mass with Covid 19 precautions, masks and social distancing, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Health Care Activities Fund, 39 Queen St., Worcester, MA. 01610.
