Leopoldo Colarusso, age 75, of Somerville passed away on Sunday, January 24, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born in Pietradefusi, Avellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Finicola (Capobinanco) Colarusso. Leopoldo came to the US at the age of nine. After graduating high school he proudly served in the Army. He worked for the Postal Service until retiring at age 55, and was then employed for ten years at Century Ford in Medford.
Leopoldo was a happy go lucky guy who loved music and dancing. Family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren. Leopoldo was best friends with his brother Carmine, and they would take daily walks around the Mystic River. He was very generous, and a positive role-model, always offering words of encouragement to those who needed it.
Leopoldo was the beloved husband of Alba E. (Galdieri) Colarusso, and the devoted father of Joseph Colarusso and his wife Danielle of Billerica, and Carlo Colarusso and his wife Lara of Wilmington. He was the loving grandfather of Alessandra and Christian Leo Colarusso, and the dear brother of Maria Zezze of Somerville and her late husband Ernesto, Olga Soricelli and her husband Jerry of Quincy, Carmine Colarusso and his wife Lina of Somerville, and Liliana Iarrobino and her husband Enzo of Medford. Leopoldo is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
