Obituary

WORCESTER__Joseph Sliwoski, 97, of Worcester died peacefully at home on Saturday January 23, 2021. His wife of 55 years, Ann (DeSavage) Sliwoski died in 2005. A son, Edward Sliwoski died in 1986.

He leaves two sons, Paul Sliwoski and Steven Sliwoski, four daughters, Patricia Dickson, Nancy Averi, Diane Pickover and Christine Peterson, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Benjamin, Charles, Walter and John Sliwoski. Joseph was born in Worcester a son of the late Francis and Katherine Sliwoski and was raised in Leicester. He has lived in Worcester for most of his life.

Mr. Sliwoski was a truck driver and worked many years for Atlas Distributing Co until he retired. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving with the 989th
Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater. He was a member of Cherry Valley Post 443 American Legion and Teamsters Local 170. He loved listening and dancing to polkas. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved fixing things. He was known to family and friends as ‘Mr. Fix it”. He was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

The funeral will be held on Thursday January 28, 2021 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St, with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday January 27, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Current guidelines for capacity, wearing facemasks and social distancing will be followed.
