John L. Silva, 91, of E. Freetown, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at home. He was the husband of the late Irene (Chace) Silva.
Mr. Silva was born in New Bedford, son of the late Jesse L. and Mary (Lucian) Silva and had been a longtime resident of E. Freetown. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country in the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was the vice president and technical director for the former Lloyd Manufacturing in Warren, RI. He was a member of the East Freetown Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include his son: Stephen J. Silva and his wife Donna of Assonet; his 2 daughters: Karen J. Lazaro and her husband Joe of New Bedford and Janet A. Bullock and her husband Donald of E. Freetown; sister-in-law: Nancy Chace of E. Freetown; 4 grandchildren: Corey Lazaro, Neena Lazaro, Jacob Bullock & Ethan Bullock; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Community Nurse Home Care for the compassionate care they gave to Mr. Silva.
