Obituary

Harry Edward Buckles, of rural Anderson, died January 1, 2021 at Northview Health and Living, Anderson, after complication of Covid 19.
He was born in Anderson, March 11, 1929, to Harry F. G. and Dersie Buckles. He was the oldest of seven children.
He was a 1947 Alexandria High School graduate. He was employed at Anaconda Wire and Cable for 30 years until the plant closed. He was a licensed auctioneer and owned and operated Harry's Country Auction 1970 to 1989. He served the Indiana Auctioneers Association as Executive Director 1975 to 1989 and prior to that, as Second Vice President and Director. He and his daughter, RuthAnn were the first father/daughter licensed auctioneers in the state of Indiana. After retirement, he worked at Eastgate True Value Hardware.
Harry is survived by his two daughters, Judy Buckles and RuthAnn Ginder, his special son-in-law of 41 years, Rick Ginder; special neighbors, Jeff and Jana Chambers. He considered Rick and Jeff like the sons he never had. Also surviving is his youngest sister, Elaine Huse, Colorado Springs, Colorado; special nephew, Scott (Debbie) Buckles of Marion and several other nieces, nephews and his special fur babies, Holly, Waylon and Shiloh.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Harriett Ann (Lane) Buckles, who he met on December 18, 1949 and married March 3, 1950. He along with his wife prided themselves in building and homesteading their home on nearly eleven acres, north of Chesterfield. They met on a blind date arranged by his late brother-in-law, Arthur Monroe. Also preceded are his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Per his request, cremation will take place with no visitation at this time, but a celebration of life at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department; 405 East 500 North, Anderson, IN 46012 or the Animal Protection League, 613 Dewey Street; Anderson, IN 46016.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful Community Hospital ER staff and Northview Health and Living staff for their part in his care.
